CRITIQUES
AboutI have been writing children's books for many years. Three of my picture books placed first and second in the SCBWI Carolinas Writing and Illustrating Contest (2015, 2016, 2017). I am a writing fellow through West Chester University and I participated in the New Hampshire Writing Program.

Query LettersYour query letter is the first impression an agent or editor will get of your work. It should be professional, concise, and enticing. I can help you polish your letter, including a hook, pitch, and comparative titles. Critiques are $15 for just the query letter or $10 when combined with the full manuscript.

Picture BooksWriting an intriguing book that has a complete narrative arc, endearing characters, and a story that begs to be read again and again, all while staying under 600 words is extremely difficult. I can help you with big picture issues like plotting, pacing, character development, and concept. I can also help with smaller issues such as line edits, page turns, and word choice. Picture book critiques start at $30 for 500 words or less and increase based upon word count.

Chapter BooksChapter books, especially ones with series potential, have become very popular in the market. Finding the balance between high concept and readability for young readers can be challenging. I can help you plot, pace, and refine your chapter book while also paying attention to appropriate vocabulary. Chapter book critiques start at $50 for 6,000 words and increase based upon word count.
